Resolution #2 for 2013 is simple – clean out. The start of a new year is the perfect time to get rid of all the unworn, too small, or out of date items in your closet and clear out all the clutter in the house. Being that I just moved to a different state, I was forced to do some cleaning out of my own before the move, or else a whole bunch of junk would have been on the moving truck, unnecessarily taking up precious space. Here are some tips for cleaning out some of the
junk clothing in your closet and around the house:
FOR THE CLOSET
>>If you haven’t worn it in 6 months to a year, chances are you won’t be putting it on any time soon. Toss it.
>>If it doesn’t fit – toss it. Don’t keep clothing for the body you want to have in the future. Dress for the body you have now.
>>Separate unwanted clothing into 2 piles – one for donation, and one for consignment. Hey, you may be able to cash in on some of those designer pieces you no longer wear! Some great resellers options to check out include Ebay, Poshmark, and Copious. You could always have a good ol’ fashioned garage sale too!
FOR THE REST OF THE HOME
>>I find it easier to de-clutter one room at a time. Rome wasn’t built in a day.
>>Gather a few garbage bags before you start de-cluttering each room. Toss out or shred any old papers laying around, trash, or any other unwanted clutter. Make a separate pile for donation and consignment if applicable.
>>Clean up as you go.
>>Try to find designated places for everything as you go.
And when you’re done with your clean out, get ready to organize! Stay tuned for pt. 3 tomorrow where I’ll share my third resolution which may or may not be get organized. Duh.
