This week I’ll be sharing what I dub Resolutions for a Happy New Year. This set of resolutions is the perfect way to get on track and motivated for the new year ahead. They’re also my personal resolutions as well, and hopefully they will help ya’ll and myself achieve all of our dreams and more in 2013!
Resolution #1 is something so cliche and obvious, but still super insanely important and that’s setting goals. Simply put by my middle school motto – “if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” Such a simple little quote, but one that I always fall back on and remember time and time again. The ultimate purpose for your goals is to help identify clear successes you wish to accomplish and the plans and actions you’ll take to get you to that finish line.
When I’m setting my own personal goals, I like to follow a few certain steps to help me with mapping my goals out:
>>Identify the goal/success you wish to achieve. Think what you’d like your life to look like big picture and work your way down into smaller targets that you’ll need to hit to reach your overall big picture goals.
>>Set a timeline for your goals. Is it something you wish to achieve in 3 months, 6 months, or a year? Be specific. A clear timeline will help you keep up with the progress you’re making on the goals you set.
>>Make a plan and outline the actions and steps you’ll need to take to achieve your goals. Implement your plan.
>>Decide if your plan is working. Here’s where setting a timeline for your goals comes in. Let’s say you’re a new blogger and want to gain 100 Twitter followers in 3 months. If in 3 months you haven’t reached your target, you can go back and re-evaluate your action plan and make adjustments accordingly.
My main goal for 2013 is to advance professionally in my career. I definitely have a picture in my head of the success I wish to achieve, and you better believe I have my action plan in place to get there! Below are some adorable options to help you out with setting your 2013 goals! What do you plan on achieving in 2013? Wishing you much success in the new year!
