Perro FeoAllu85 is right however I think there was some truth in Dave’s ssitliopmc comments about the Argentine economy. Dave isn’t an economist. a political scientist or an historian so his comments were innocent like those of a child. Sometimes children really get the point in a very clear way. There is a bad work ethic here and a very poor business climate. It has something to do with cultural values. Spain was a poor country until recently and it has grown in part because of its membership in the European Union. Spain made some changes. Had it gone on as it used to it would not have progressed. Argentina has been resisting globalization, preferring to blame everybody else but themselves for their problems. It’s true that the leaders are completely corrupt but why have the people allowed this for decade after decade. Argentina was always the most literate and educated nation in Latin America, so it was not a question of ignorance. What I have missed in Dave’s comments has been an outsider’s look at the society. I realize he is not a reporter but the setting in Argentina could have been an interesting opportuniy to inform his blog buddies a little about this complicated country that was once one of the world’s richest nations.
